EXCLUSIVE: Sources tell Nexus Point News that Joe Alwyn is in talks to join Brady Corbet’s upcoming feature The Origin of the World. The film also stars Michael Fassbender, Cate Blanchett, and Selena Gomez.
Plot details for The Origin of the World remain under wraps. However, in a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Corbet revealed that the film “spans from the 19th century into the present day — it’s just predominantly focused on the ’70s. The film is really, really genre-defying.” We can also confirm that production is set to begin this September.
If the deal closes, The Origin of the World will mark Alwyn’s second collaboration with Corbet. He previously appeared in a supporting role in Corbet’s Academy Award-winning drama The Brutalist, starring Adrien Brody, who won the Oscar for Best Actor for his performance.
Joe Alwyn is best known for his performances in Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Favourite and Kinds of Kindness. He most recently starred in Hamlet and Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet. His upcoming projects include A24’s Apple TV series adaptation of The Husbands, the film adaptation of Séance on a Wet Afternoon, Cavendish, and Panic Carefully, in which he stars opposite Elizabeth Olsen and Julia Roberts.
Alwyn is represented by Independent Talent Group, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Entertainment 360, and Peikoff Mahan Law Office.
The reps for Alwyn did not immediately return for comment.
