As reported by Nexus Point News, Daredevil: Born Again began casting a new series regular role for season 3. Sources now tell NPN that Jack Mulhern is set to portray this new mystery character being referred to as Philip.

It’s currently unknown if Philip will be the character’s name or if it’s a codename. Philip is described as being a smart and scrappy New Yorker who’s sweet and lovable with a hidden rageful side. The role is also expected to have options which point to Mulhern’s character returning in future seasons or potentially setting him up to be a major character in the series.

Mulhern is best known for his work on television, appearing in Netflix’s Painkiller and HBO’s Mare of Easttown. He’s also known for his work in Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, The Boys in the Boat, and Wu-Tang: An American Saga.

Potential characters that Mulhern could be portraying are Richard Fisk/Rose or Butch Pharris, sons of Wilson Fisk. The Rose first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #253 in 1984 and was created by Tom DeFalco. Like his father, the Rose is a crime lord in New York. Butch Pharris first appeared in Daredevil (2018) #13 in 2019 and was created by Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto. Pharris was Fisk’s illegitimate child and childhood friend of Mike Murdock. After the events of Devil’s Reign, Pharris becomes the Kingpin of Crime. Philip could also be an original character made for the show or some sort of amalgamation of Richard and Butch.

Daredevil: Born Again serves as a revival and continuation to Netflix’s Daredevil series. Charlie Cox returns as the titular character, Matt Murdock/Daredevil, with Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Krysten Ritter is set to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in season 2 in a recurring role. This next season will feature Murdock in an all-new black suit as he joins forces with Jessica Jones to take down Mayor Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force while also fighting other enemies such as Bullseye. Season 2 premieres on March 24th.

Dario Scardapane continues to serve as executive producer and showrunner for season 3. Production for season 3 is slated to begin in March and continue through July 2026 in New York City, just like season 2, which will premiere right as season 3 begins production.

Daredevil: Born Again season 3 is set to premiere in March 2027 on Disney+ as part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
