After more than a year since the last season premiered, fans are finally returning to Virgin River. The romantic drama, based on the book series by Robyn Carr, returns to Netflix with its seventh season on March 12.

Virgin River Season 6 ended with several emotional moments, unresolved storylines, and a major mystery that left fans with plenty of questions. Before diving into the new episodes, here are the most important developments to remember.

Mel and Jack Finally Got Married

After years of ups and downs, Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) officially tied the knot in the Season 6 finale. Their wedding day wasn’t completely smooth, though. Just before the ceremony, Mel had to deal with a family emergency when her father, Everett, suffered a heart attack. The emotional moment made Mel briefly question whether she was ready to trust in the idea of a lifelong commitment after experiencing so much loss in her past. Jack reassured her that they would face the future together, which helped calm her fears before the ceremony.

However, the biggest twist came the day after the wedding. Earlier in the season, Mel had met a pregnant young woman named Marley who planned to place her baby for adoption. When the couple originally interested in adopting the child began reconsidering, Marley contacted Mel with a life-changing question: would she and Jack be willing to adopt the baby themselves?

Brady Was Betrayed by Lark

Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) seemed to be moving forward with his life, until his relationship with Lark (Elise Gatien) turned out to be more complicated than it appeared. Brie discovered that Lark had been secretly visiting Jimmy (Ian Tracey), a criminal from Brady’s past who is also the father of her daughter. The revelation exposed a scheme between the two to keep tabs on Brady and potentially steal from him.

Although Brady initially confronted Lark and ended the relationship, she later convinced him she genuinely loved him. But during Mel and Jack’s wedding celebration, Lark overheard Brady admitting that he still had feelings for Brie. That night, Lark disappeared from town with her daughter — after draining Brady’s bank account.

Preacher Faced a Murder Trial

Another major storyline centered on John ‘Preacher’ Middleton (Colin Lawrence), whose past involvement in a deadly incident finally caught up with him. In earlier seasons, Paige (Lexa Doig) killed her abusive ex-husband Wes in self-defense, and Preacher helped hide the body. The situation resurfaced when Wes’ brother, Vince, falsely accused Preacher of helping commit the murder. After a fire in town led to the discovery of Wes’ remains, Preacher became the focus of a criminal investigation.

Virgin River Season 6 followed his tense trial, where he risked spending the rest of his life in prison. With help from Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen), Preacher ultimately avoided jail time. Although he admitted to burying Wes’ body, he maintained that the man was already dead when he arrived at the scene. After the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict, Brie negotiated a deal that resulted in community service and a misdemeanor charge instead of prison.

Doc’s Medical License Was Suspended

Longtime town doctor Vernon ‘Doc’ Mullins (Tim Matheson) also faced a serious professional crisis. During a medical emergency, Doc performed a risky procedure outside the hospital with assistance from his grandson, Denny. The patient survived, but the incident raised concerns among other medical professionals. Soon after, Doc’s medical license was suspended while the situation was investigated.

Later, Doc discovered that a larger medical network was interested in expanding into Virgin River — and potentially taking over his clinic. By the end of the season, he was preparing for a legal fight to protect the practice he had built for years.

Charmaine’s Disappearance Left a Major Mystery

The biggest cliffhanger of Season 6 involved Charmaine Roberts (Lauren Hammersley). In recent seasons, her relationship with Mel and Jack had improved significantly, and she was even scheduled to style Mel’s hair for the wedding. But on the big day, Charmaine never showed up.

Concern grew when her phone went straight to voicemail the next day. Jack eventually went to her house to check on her and found the front door slightly open. As he searched the house, he entered the nursery and reacted with visible shock — though the audience never saw what he discovered.

The moment ended the season on a tense note, leaving fans wondering what really happened to Charmaine and whether her disappearance is connected to Calvin (David Cubitt), the father of her twins. With several storylines still unresolved, Season 7 of Virgin River promises to bring both emotional moments and new challenges to the small town.
