The news of Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s theatrical window follows the confirmation that Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey will receive a three-week exclusive IMAX window when it premieres on July 17, 2016. It also comes after Universal Pictures’ recent announcement that its 2026 theatrical slate, which includes The Odyssey, will receive at least a five-weekend theatrical run. Beginning in 2027, that window will extend to seven weekends (approximately 45 days).
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently scheduled to release July 31st, 2026, two weeks after The Odyssey. As things currently stand, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will not screen in IMAX domestically on the opening weekend due to Nolan’s films occupying the screens. However, the film will be shown in other premium formats.
While missing IMAX on opening weekend could be a setback for Marvel Studios, the 60-day minimum theatrical window ensures the film will have ample time to perform at the box office, regardless.
Previous entries in Spider-Man’s MCU run have been major box office successes. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) grossed $880 million worldwide, followed by Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) with $1.1 billion. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) became a global phenomenon, earning $1.9 billion worldwide and becoming the first pandemic-era film to surpass $1 billion. With that track record, both Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are hoping to continue the franchise’s strong box office run with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland.
The first trailer for Brand New Day has yet to be released, though rumours suggest that it could be arriving as soon as next week.
The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Krondon, Tramell Tillman, Liza Colón‑Zayas. Destin Daniel Cretton will direct; best known for Just Mercy, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Wonder Man.
