Today is February 27, 2026, and that marks Pokémon Day. The day that the original Pokémon Red and Blue for Game Boy were released in Japan. It marks the 30th anniversary, and to celebrate, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company revealed some excellent news at their Pokémon Presents livestream.

The next and 10th generation of Pokémon was announced with their latest games: Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves.

In the trailer that was shown, we got a look at the new region for the pair of games. While its inspiration hasn’t officially been revealed, the trailer highlighted the tropical islands and the vast ocean that seems to include deep-sea exploration for the first time in a mainline Pokémon game.

We also got a look at our Gen 10 starter Pokémon: Browt, the Bean Chick Pokémon; Pombon, the Puppy Pokémon; and finally, Gecqua, the Gecko Pokémon.

With a look at the region and the new starter Pokémon, we also got two brand new designs for Pikachu, which highlights that we may be able to customise our Pokémon this generation. Aside from their names, Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, no details have been revealed on how they’ll assist on your adventures.

After the Pokémon Presents stream, they officially announced separately that the games will launch and be fully playable in the Brazilian Portuguese language alongside 11 additional languages. With this being a focus, it could be a possible hint at the inspiration this latest region has taken after.

Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are set to have a global simultaneous release in 2027. During the Pokémon Presents, they revealed updates on numerous titles, including Pokémon Pokopia, which releases on Thursday, 5th March, 2026.
