Award-Winning Designers Join 'Masters of the Universe'

Brittanee G.

A film is nothing without the talented crew behind the stars, and luckily for Masters of the Universe, several talented make-up, costume, and prosthetic designers have joined the crew. The film, set for a 2026 release, stars Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Jared Leto, Alison Brie, and Idris Elba.

Directed by Travis Knight, the film follows 10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.

As for behind-the-scenes, we're able to report some of the award-winning and nominated designers working on the film.

  • Barrie Gower, Prosthetics designer (The Last of Us S1-2, The Fantastic Four: First Steps)

  • Sarah Gower, Prosthetics department head (The Last of Us S1-2, The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power)

  • Richard Sale, Costume designer (Back In Action, Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom)

  • Pippa Woods, Make-up and hair designer (My Lady Jane, Willow)

Although some fans were questioning Nicholas Galitzine's look as Prince Adam, as first revealed by papparazzi photos, it's safe to say the character's full design is in good hands.

Masters of the Universe is based off of the comics of the same name, which first debuted as minicomics in 1981 by Mattel. Other Masters of the Universe series have been posted over the years by DC, Marvel, Image Comics, and London Edition Magazines.
