‘Marvel Rivals’ Season 1 - Everything You Need to Know

The Fantastic Four in Marvel Rivals.

It's been a little over a month since the official launch of Marvel's newest game with over 30 characters being available for free to play at launch. The game has taken the gamer world by storm as being highly addictive, engaging and extremely fun. As Season 0 comes to a close, it has already been announced that Marvel's first family is expected to join the roster in Season 1.

We got an early look at what's to come in the upcoming season and here's everything you need to know:

New Characters:

Sue Storm, Reed Richards, Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm are all confirmed to be added to the game in Season 1 (which is confirmed to last 3-4 months). We can confirm that this season is a ‘mega season' meaning we shouldn't expect these many new characters, maps and game modes to be added in a single season like this ever again. Marvel's First Family is expected to make their theatrical debut later this summer so it's only right to reintroduce them in the world of the video games (the last time we saw then was in Nintendo's exclusive Ultimate Alliance 3).

Sue and Reed will be the first of the four to join the game in Season 1 on January 11th with Ben and Johnny coming later in the season. The theme of this season is Eternal Night where in New York (shown in the official launch trailer, a mystery villain has taken over New York). We can confirm that this villain is Dracula and the F4 are up to the job to help stop him.

Sue will join the game as a strategist whereas Reed will be a duelist. Rivals has done an amazing job at making sure each characters power set feels like something you would expect to see in the comics, movies or even other video games. Reed is able to stretch and attack enemies and even use his powers to absorb enemy attacks. Sue is able to heal and damage her enemies along with going invisible and creating huge impenetrable force fields.

Sue and Reed will also have alternate skins available for purchase with Reed's being his Maker skin and Sue's being her iconic Makice skin.

If this is any indication of what's to come... Rivals fans are in for a big treat.

Character Buffs

Wolverine and Storm in Marvel Rivals.

Since launch, players have been vocal about some characters that need to have a buff. We are happy to confirm that Storm, Wolverine, Venom, Captain America, and Cloak & Dagger will be receiving buffs in the upcoming season.

Specifics are being kept under wraps. We have to wait until the official developer notes are released.

New Maps / Game Mode

Rivals will also be introducing a new map and game mode in Season 1 that is described as a free for all mode where plays will go head to head for the victory. The new mode will allow 6-12 players in a single match and the top half of the group with the most kills will be the victors of the match.

With the launch of the new game mode, there will also be a new Santctum Santorum map specially for this game mode. It's stunning and great to see how the rival developers manage to pull everything you know about the iconic location in the comics and bring it to life in the video games.

Season 1 will also introduce new Eternal Night maps that will be used for convoy mode.

Are you excited for Season 1?
