  • 'Agatha All Along' Trailer Breakdown

The wait is over! Agatha All Along teaser trailer has been released today alongside a poster and an official synopsis. The synopsis for the series reads as: The series focuses on Kathryn Hahn’s character, Agatha Harkness, from the acclaimed Marvel Studios’ series WandaVision , as she sets off on a dangerous, mysterious adventure filled with trials and tribulations. Showrunner Jac Schaeffer, who was the creative force behind WandaVision , directs the pilot episode. In Agatha All Along , the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road… It seems like Agatha All Along will takes us to a journey into The Witches' Road, a plane of existence where only witches can tread. The teaser trailer gave us the glimpses of the Road and the dangers it poses. I will be breaking down the trailer for you in this article. 1. Agnes of Westview A while ago, Joe Locke shared a set picture that had a chair with Agnes of Westview written on it. The font was identical to crime drama Mare of Easttown 's logo. It appears that this title was teasing the first episode of Agatha All Along , which shares similar themes and story elements with Mare of Easttown . When we last saw Agnes, she was the "nosy neighbor" under Wanda's spell. However, it seems her narrative has evolved; she now believes herself to be a detective solving murder cases. 2. Detective Rio? It has been confirmed for a while now that Aubrey Plaza was portraying a witch named Rio Vidal in the series. Rio is probably disguising herself as a detective to help Agatha break out of Wanda's "distorted spell." 3. The Mysterious Body / Jane Doe The murder case Agatha is investigating seems to involve Wanda Maximoff. Clues such as the black fingertips, red hair shown in the featurette, and the name on the library card strongly indicate that it is Wanda. However, it seems improbable that Wanda's body would suddenly appear in Westview. Agatha's line in the trailer, "I can't shake this feeling I'm seeing it wrong," suggests that everything she perceives might be an illusion. It's also worth noting that the residents of Westview know Agatha/Agnes and wouldn't readily accept her as a detective, which further supports the possibility that Agatha's reality might be distorted or manipulated. Another clue is that what Agatha holding is a library card for "State of New Jersey Public Library", not a piece of paper someone would use while solving murder cases. 5. The Dates Thanks to X/Twitter user @lizzieonfilm for figuring out what some of these dates stand for: February 16: Elizabeth Olsen's birthday August 28: Jack Kirby's birthday June 2: Agnes and Ralph's anniversary, Salem Witch trials, Kevin Feige's birthday December 28: Stan Lee's birthday 6. WandaVision costumes As Agatha attempts to claw her way out of Wanda's spell, we see her cycling through her various outfits from WandaVision , each representing different time periods and personas she adopted while in Wanda's hex. The scene where we saw naked is likely after she claws her way out of the spell. This could symbolize Agatha's awakening as she sheds the illusions imposed on her and returns to her true form stripped of all pretenses. 7. The Time The calendar on Lilia's fridge has November on it. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness took place in Fall 2024 according to The MCU: An Official Timeline , which was one year after the events of WandaVision according to the same book. Agatha All Along is likely taking place at least one year after WandaVision because Rio says "that witch is gone," which is an indicator that this takes place after Wanda's "supposed" death. 8. The Door There is a scene where the coven members are holding hands and singing in a basement in the featurette released last year. This ritualistic act appears to have the purpose of opening the door to the Witches Road, a mystical dimension in Marvel comics. 9. The Witches' Road As the coven enters The Witches' Road, the scene reveals a path leading to a house at the end, which is likely where their first trial takes place. 10. The Bell The bell Agatha holds in the trailer is adorned with intricate Gargoyle designs. Gargoyles, traditionally known as guardians of castles and cathedrals, also carry connotations of demonic vessels. While the exact significance of this design in Agatha All Along remains to be seen, it's worth noting its presence. The trailer hints at themes of protection and dark magic and features scenes of a castle and hints of demonic possession. This design choice could symbolize either of those things. 11. The Coven Agatha's coven includes: Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu: Lilia's skill lies in divination, and she uses tarot cards to foresee and interpret events. Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon: Sharon is set to join Agatha's coven. Her specific skills haven't been revealed yet. Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer Kale : Jennifer's expertise is rumored to be in potions, this skill could come into play during their trials on the Witches’ Road. Ali Ahn as Alice Wu: Early set pictures depict Alice as a security guard, which indicates that her magical skill is likely related to protection. 12. "Mysterious Teen" While the show seems to be setting up a reveal for Joe Locke's character similar to Agatha's in WandaVision , it’s clear to those familiar with the comics that Locke is playing Billy Kaplan, Scarlet Witch's reincarnated son. "Teen" is also wearing a blue headband in the trailer that is the signature look for Billy Kaplan. "Teen" is part of Agatha's coven. 13. The Green Witch Rio Vidal is the first Green Witch and her powers are Earth-related. The trailer also underlines this by portraying her in green costumes. The costumes also suggest that these scenes are taking place in the past. Maybe we are going to see how Agatha and Rio met. 14. The Brooms In an interview with Empire Magazine, Jac Schaeffer mentioned that the team researched classic witches for Agatha All Along . One of the elements they wanted to incorporate from traditional witch lore seems to be the iconic imagery of witches flying on brooms. 15. Good Old Agatha In the scene above, Agatha is shown to be stealing powers from other witches. This seems to be a flashback and it supports my report about Agatha stealing power for centuries. 16. Mysterious Hands The hands wrapping around the trees in the trailer likely belong to the Salem Seven, who appear to be chasing Agatha's coven through the Witches' Road. The dark, gnarly forest setting confirms that this is indeed the Witches' Road. 17. Demonic Possession Alice is seen drawing a magical circle around Lilia, who is laying on the ground in pain. The demon we see in the trailer could be connected somehow, as magical circles are traditionally used for protection against such entities. The circle likely serves as a barrier to shield Lilia from the demonic influence. 18. Eviction Notice The eviction notice Agatha holds features the Three of Pentacles symbol, which represents teamwork and collaboration in tarot. Initially, Lilia Calderu is hesitant to join Agatha Harkness's coven, as shown in the teaser trailer. However, she eventually agrees to join her, likely prompted by the eviction notice she receives. This symbol of teamwork and collaboration on the notice might suggest a change of heart driven by necessity. Lilia’s situation might be what compels her to join forces with Agatha to find what she is missing in the Witches' Road. 19. Watches and Brooch In the Ouija scene, all of the coven members are seen wearing watches, which might indicate some sort of time constraint. This detail suggests that their trials might operate like escape rooms, where they need to complete tasks within a specific timeframe. Additionally, Agatha's brooch is now worn as a bracelet. 21. Ouija Board The outfits worn by the coven members during the seance scene are the same as those seen when Agatha is possessed. I believe there is a direct connection between the summoning ritual and Agatha's subsequent possession. The likely scenario is that whatever entity or force they summoned during the seance ended up possessing Agatha. 22. The Children's Books This one is not exactly from the trailer, it's from one of the stills Marvel officially released. A Charlie Brown book and Little Folks of Other Lands are in the picture. I believe Charlie Brown book is an Easter Egg for the Salem Seven as they all have animal forms. Meanwhile, Little Folks of Other Lands seems to symbolize the evolving friendship and unity within Agatha's coven, transforming from strangers to bonded sisters. Another thing worth noting is that these are children's books. In the comics, Agatha has a son named Nicholas Scratch. The person they are trying to contact during the seance could be Agatha's son. 23. The Riddle of the Stone Elephant The plot of this book might suggest it has some similar themes with Agatha All Along : While handling reporting assignments for his father's newspaper, young Ken Holt and his photographer friend, Sandy Allen, become involved in a world of mystery and intrigue. Ken Holt and Sandy Allen are asked by Ken's father, Richard, to do some preliminary research on a long standing land feud in Colorado. The boys drive out west in their new red convertible, given to them by a consortium of insurance companies, for solving their initial mystery, The Secret of Skeleton Island. The feud between John Raymond and Chet Wilson, in Mesa Alta, revolves around boundary markers. When a key piece of evidence disappears, it is apparent to Ken and Sandy that this dispute is also a mystery. While investigating several leads the boys have to use all their wits and strength to escape a deadly trap laid for them. But who are the villains? Aided by Bowleg, the cowboy, Ken and Sandy run down every clue in an effort to resolve this complicated mystery. It's not until the boys fight a pitched battle in a dark tunnel that the villains are unmasked, the dastardly means of their deception revealed , and The Riddle of the Stone Elephant is solved. The Salem Seven are established as the main antagonists in Agatha All Along , but much like the book's plot, there could be more beneath the surface. The series might introduce additional hidden villains that Agatha and her coven need to uncover through a series of clues. 24. The Witch in Pink When I first saw the trailer, I thought this was Jennifer Kale fighting the Salem Seven since she was wearing pink in some scenes. Upon further investigation, I believe this is Lilia Calderu. When the witches are falling, there are tarot cards flying around. Lilia's special skill divination which involves tarot cards. The scene that follows this also has a close-up to Lilia's face. 25. Lilia the Good Witch Lilia is seemingly wearing a pink gown with a crown. One of the most prominent figures that has a very similar outfit in witch media is Glinda the Good Witch from The Wizard of Oz . This isn't the first time Jac Schaeffer referenced this movie, it was heavily referenced in WandaVision as well. 26. Agatha's Magic Agatha's main magic color is purple, however, she has orange/fire-like magic in this scene. When Agatha was siphoning Wanda's power in WandaVision , the magic she had was briefly red, the color of Wanda's magic. This could be another scene where Agatha steal power from another witch. 27. Agatha's New Brooch The previous brooch had Three Graces on it, the new one has The Triple Goddess: the maiden, the mother, and the crone. The Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, each of which symbolizes both a separate stage in the female life cycle and a phase of the Moon, and often rules one of the realms of heavens, earth, and underworld.” It seems like we are diving deep into the witch lore in this project. The first two episodes of Agatha All Along will stream on Disney+ on September 18.

  • EXCLUSIVE: More Details Emerge as DC’s ‘Lanterns’ Prepares for Production

As Superman wraps and season 2 of Peacemaker  continues shooting, another DC Studios project is preparing to begin production at the top of next year: Lanterns . As previously reported by us, the HBO Original series was looking to begin filming sometime in the first quarter of 2025. More specific production details have emerged, giving us a better sense of when cameras will start rolling on this superhero-detective series.  Nexus Point News have exclusively learned from their sources that production is slated to begin in January of 2025 and continue through June of that year. Although we had previously heard rumblings that the series was looking to shoot in the United Kingdom, we have heard that it will be shooting in Atlanta now.  The True Detective -inspired series will follow veteran Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, and rookie, John Stewart, as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. Having Atlanta be the filming location for the series will hopefully allow for more opportunities to shoot on location, as Atlanta is part of the American heartland. As previously mentioned in an AMA on X by this writer, casting has officially begun on Lanterns . Casting descriptions reported on by DCUleaks and Nexus Point News, pointed to the leads, Hal and John, being in their forties and thirties respectively. Since the casting process typically tends to skew out of these age ranges, some actors being looked at are slightly younger or older. Nexus Point News has also heard that the role of Hal Jordan is intended to go to a noteworthy name. Casting on Hal Jordan is currently the priority with casting for John, following it. It’s likely that this could be for potential chemistry reads for the duo. Lanterns was officially picked up by HBO as a eight episode series and is in development by DC Studios as part of Chapter One of the DC Universe. This story is still developing.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘Percy Jackson And The Olympians’ Preps For Season 2 As Casting Begins

As Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians prepares for production later this year, we have exclusively learned that casting has begun on some fan-favorite characters, as well as an original character. We’ve heard they’re currently on the hunt for Percy Jackson’s (Walker Scobell) half-brother, Tyson, and the daughter of Zeus (Lance Reddick), Thalia, and a new demigod by the name of Alison. They’re currently looking for actors of all ethnicities, between the ages of 15 to 18, for the role of Tyson who will be a series regular. The casting description for Tyson, describes him as big and tall, but with a heart just as big as he is. He is biologically 8 years old, but looks like a fully developed human teenager due to the Mist. His powers are invulnerability to fire, enhanced hearing, and ability to mimic voices. Like Tyson, actresses between 15 to 18 of all ethnicities are being looked at for Thalia. She’s the daughter of Zeus who gave her life to protect her friends, 6 years prior to the series, but was saved by her father and turned into a tree. She has a tough and prickly personality and is described as being a punk or rebel. She will be a recurring guest star in Season 2, but with the potential for more in future seasons. Deviating from the books, Season 2 will introduce Alison, who is described as being a rogue demigod and a member of Luke Castellan’s (Charlie Bushnell) army. She lives in the human world now, but attended Camp Half-Blood in her younger years. She will be a recurring guest star. Actresses between 18 to 22 of all ethnicities are being looked at for the role. Tyson is introduced in the second book that the upcoming season will adapt, The Sea of Monsters . He plays a crucial role in the novel, joining Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries) on their quest to save Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and find the Golden Fleece. Fans of the books know the character's significance, as he is revealed to be a son of Poseidon (Toby Stephens) and Percy's half-brother. Tyson's character is also essential to Annabeth’s traumatic past with his kind. This dynamic brings themes of overcoming prejudice, personal growth, and the importance of looking beyond superficial differences. This can set up a nuanced and challenging arc for Jeffries’ Annabeth to tackle. Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus, was mentioned and seen (yes, that oak tree protecting camp) in the first season by various characters. In the books, before arriving at Camp Half-Blood, Thalia, Luke, and Annabeth formed a tight-knit group, struggling for survival in the mortal world. Tragically, when they finally reached the camp, Thalia sacrificed herself and was turned into a tree by Zeus, her bravery ensuring the camp's protection. If they follow the novels closely in season 2, however, her tree will be poisoned, setting off a quest led by breakout character, Clarisse La Rue (Dior Goodjohn). By the end of the book, Thalia is brought back to human form and becomes a crucial figure in the prophecy as a "forbidden child" of the big three gods of Olympus. Percy Jackson and The Olympians Season 1 is now streaming on Disney Plus.

  • REVIEW: 'Deadpool & Wolverine' is as Good as it's Ever Gonna Get

The third (and God-willing last) installment of the Deadpool film series had made waves far before it's arrival as the proclaimed savior of the cinematic universe that has been routinely striking out in recent years. But if Deadpool & Wolverine is our indicator of the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, perhaps it should have gracefully bowed out with Avengers: Endgame . Deadpool & Wolverine posits the titular character (Ryan Reynolds) in the cliched "bottomed out" trope —he's lost his girlfriend, works a terrible job as a used car salesman, and suffers from a crippling lack of self-worth. All of this contrasts jarringly with how we last saw Wade, and all of this reeks of familiarity when constructing a sequel that desperately seeks direction from its inception. Star Wars: The Force Awakens did it with Han and Leia. Scream (2022) did it with Dewey and Gale. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny did it with Indy and Marion. Regardless, this conveniently propels Wade onto his journey for purpose. This journey links Deadpool and a variant of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) from another universe, on a mission to save Deadpool's home universe when it is marked for destruction by Time Variance Authority operative, Paradox (Matthew Macfayden). Along the way, the two are thrown into the trash heap of the multiverse, the Void, and clash blades with the Mutant sociopathic villainess, Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin). Obviously nobody comes to a Deadpool movie for the plot, and the increasingly irritating meta-jokes are evidence that the movie itself knows that. That doesn't change the fact that what we are given is paper thin and flimsy. Deadpool and Wolverine spend much of the movie wandering around the empty third act of The Flash (2023) with little to actually do but bicker in ways the movie thinks is funnier than it actually is. Their relationship can generally be understood as Deadpool being Deadpool, and Wolverine telling him to shut up. Over, and over. The emotional beats are there... for the sake of at least having emotional beats. I didn't care for Deadpool's journey for self-worth and to save his family that we barely spent time with. I didn't care that Laura Kinney (Dafne Keen) returned to awkwardly reference Logan in a semi-respectable fashion. I didn't care that Wolverine lost a family we never even got to actually see in the movie. It's because I'm told to care, and not shown or offered any real reason to do so. Hugh Jackman gets a gold star for trying his hardest to tug at slack heartstrings, but I just didn't care that the universe is going to be destroyed for the 48th time. And I don't think the architects of this film really cared either. For what I didn't really get character-wise from the two main characters, I reaped ten-fold from the villain. Emma Corrin kills it as Cassandra Nova, which speaks volume considering what little they are given to work with. Nova oozes with grandeur wickedness. Every moment they are on screen is a little treat in a sea of mundanity. As a cherry on top, Nova likely has one of the coolest (and creepiest) manifestations of telepathy we've seen yet. There's enough gory action to keep you awake throughout the entire ordeal. I will note I found that as one of the movie's stronger points . The action sequences are usually entertaining and dynamic. I especially appreciated the opening sequence, even though having Deadpool play with the bones of Logan from Logan (2017) is a bit on the nose when it comes to joking about the desecration of storytelling and intellectual property. And I don't even care about Logan that much. The action at times can be overwhelming, jarring, and sloppy though, particularly when we get to the bigger set pieces that have more moving actors and pieces. Regardless, most fans will get their money's worth just by seeing Deadpool and Wolverine go at each other. If the action isn't enough, the slew of familiar faces and meta-jokes should be enough to please the upper echelon of Marvel fans. The fans who liked Edward Norton's Hulk or still think about 2017's Inhumans series. It's a smaller bunch than the bulk of MCU fans, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Perhaps moving forward, with a cinematic universe that has grown this bloated and unwieldly, it is best to specifically cater to the group of mega-fans who can manage to stay afloat. To the other, more casual moviegoers, these faces won't resonate and the jokes won't land, but they can still ooh and ahh with everyone else, then watch breakdown videos on Youtube as they wait for the post-credits scene to hit. The jokes are in Deadpool fashion: brazen, off-kilter, raunchy, and most of all meta. But also a bit drowsy and expected? The in-house jokes making fun of Disney for being creatively sterile or bankrupt can only be funny up to a point, right? Afterwards, it's like laughing at a dog pissing on itself. Humor turns to disturbed pity, real fast. Look, I'm not here to shit on the humor, because I know it's not for me. But I wonder who are the jokes for? When Deadpool treats any homosexual attraction or act as a punchline, who's that joke for? When he pokes fun at the "woke mob" and Gen Z, who's that joke for? When Deadpool laughs at how stupid Disney is for greenlighting this movie (which will likely hit a billion in the box office), who's that joke for? At the end of the day, Deadpool & Wolverine is fun. It's chaotic. It's entertaining. And it will be well-liked for at least six months. But it reinforces the same understanding that we got a taste of with Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: No Way Home and Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (the latter of which at least had the guts to attempt at maintaining its own voice and its own heart). The MCU can only jack itself off with what remains of its steam to please an increasingly monolithic fanbase, riding on the coattails of more successful years and more fonder memories. Rating: 2/5 Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in theaters everywhere.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Kumail Nanjiani Joins the DC Universe as Booster Gold

We have exclusively learned that Kumail Nanjiani has landed the role of Booster Gold in the DC Universe. Nanjiani is currently set to portray the character in the upcoming DC Studios’ series, Booster Gold , one of the upcoming entries of the highly anticipated DCU. Nanjiani is best known for his roles as Dinesh on HBO's Silicon Valley , his fictionalized take on himself in his semi autobiographical feature, The Big Sick , and as Kingo in Marvel Studios’ Eternals .  Booster Gold, or Michael Jon Carter, first appeared in DC Comics in Booster Gold #1 in 1986, created by writer and artist, Dan Jurgens. Carter was a star quarterback at Gotham University until his estranged father came back into his life and made him throw his games to win bets. After being exposed, he was kicked off the team and expelled from Gotham University, leading him to take on a position as a museum night guard. After stealing a robot sidekick, named Skeets, a power suit, a Legion of Super-Heroes flight ring, and a time sphere, he traveled back in time to present day to make a new name for himself as a superhero. Booster Gold  was first announced in DC Studios’ initial announcement video in January 2023, presented by Co-CEO, James Gunn. Gunn described the series as “the superhero story of imposter syndrome” and the character as “loser from the future.” Since its announcement, there have been no updates on the project from DC Studios.  In February of 2024, @DanielRPK reported on X, that Booster Gold had been cast. Last month, Nexus Point News reported that multiple writers had come onboard to write the series. As reported, the writing team will consist of Danny McBride, John Carcieri, and Jeff Fradley, frequent collaborators who are best known for their work on The Righteous Gemstones . Nanjiani, a friend of Gunn’s, recently quoted an image of the official Superman  (2025) logo, replying with “In.” which fueled speculation regarding a potential role in the DCU for him.  Booster Gold is currently being developed for Max by DC Studios, as part of Chapter 1 - Gods and Monsters of the DC Universe.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Additional ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 2 Casting Descriptions Revealed

As fans await the highly anticipated season 2 to the hit Disney+ series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians , more casting descriptions have surfaced. We have learned through our sources that the series has begun casting the Gray Sisters, alternatively known as the Graeae in Greek mythology. The characters will guest star in the series. The Gray Sisters are featured prominently in the second entry in the series of novels, Sea of Monsters, which  is what the second season will be adapting. We can also report that the series will be deviating from the source material and following a different interpretation of the characters. Rather than depicting them as elderly women, they will be inspired by the Triple Goddess: the maiden, the mother, and the crone.  Tempest will be the youngest sister. Actresses in their late teens and twenties of all ethnicities are being looked at for the role. She is known for being the most playful of the trio. Anger is the middle sister with actresses of all ethnicities in their thirties to fifties being looked at for the role. She is described as being the crankiest of the trio. Casting for the eldest sister, Wasp, is also open ethnicity with actresses in their sixties to seventies being considered for the role. She is the wisest and most experienced sister. In the source material, Sea of Monsters , The Gray Sisters make their debut when Annabeth Chase hails a taxi as she, Percy, and Tyson, escape the authorities. In the scene, Percy has been falsely accused of torching his school after a battle with the Laistrygonian Giants. The Sisters come into play as they are the ones driving the taxi, while sharing a single eye. Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 enters production in August 2024 in Vancouver, potentially setting it up for a 2025 release.

  • REVIEW: Is 'Twisters' Better Than The Original?

Twisters has already won over audiences by beating expectations with $81.2M opening which is 60% ahead of the $50M+ projection. But is Twisters  any better than the original? Making a sequel/remake 30 years later isn’t a bold move as it became the trend in Hollywood ( Beetlejuice 2, The Crow, Gladiator II …), but succeeding to make a film as good as the original is a pretty big challenge. Twisters  follows the same narrative structure of the original but doesn’t hesitate to take risks by modifying the original story, making it its own with quite unique new characters whose personalities are reminiscent of the 1996 movie. Twisters is far more realistic when it comes to tornados. From the sound design to the visual, the storms are more stressful and anxiety-inducing. The film almost leans into horror, especially in that shocking introduction. Twisters isn’t interested to showcase the family & friendly relationships, it's more intimate and focuses harder on the human & material losses from the disastrous tornados. They couldn’t have casted a better actress than Daisy Edgar-Jones to portray someone with a lot of compassion, remorse and guilt. As for him, Glen Powell commands the screen with his charisma and charm. A lot of people consider him to be the next big movie star like Tom Cruise , who actually came to the movie's premiere to support Glen. Twisters is well adapted to our times with new cutting-edge military technologies for the tornados and YouTube with livestreaming, offering quite funny sequences with POV shots and also allowing for criticism of excessive fanaticism that leads to recklessness. The fans of the original film will enjoy the few references thrown in the film like Dorothy and the little flying spheres. To better capture the atmosphere and vibe of the first film, director Lee Isaac Chung decided to shoot the film on 35MM to capture the look of the '90s, which is recognizable with the colors and the film grain. Surprisingly, Twisters is explicitly more pro-American than the original. The film glorifies rural American land and its tradition. It is also pretty baffling to make a disaster film about nature today without questioning human responsibility and climate change. That would have been an interesting path to delve in. Although the tornadoes are much more realistic here, they are far from being as menacing as in the original where they almost acted as a villain with their terrific sound design. The original music was quite forgettable and they gave more space for the soundtrack. One of the strengths of the original was its score, which conveyed an incredible sense of adventure. It also excelled in its very human approach to a group of friends who feel like a family: everyone knows each other well, the meal at Aunt Meg's where everyone shares memories of the good old days as if they had lived their entire lives together like a real family. The cast’s chemistry is just unmatched, from Philip Seymour Hoffman having the best time of his life to the love triangle where you could feel Bill and Jo’s desire through the screen.  Twisters doesn’t have the charm & energy of the original, but manages to create its own identity with its solid cast (Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, David Corenswet), intense action and different take on the 1996 disaster epic Twister . The movie cost $155M to produce (without marketing), a figure that has already been reached at the global box office. Rating: 3.5/5 Twisters is now in theaters worldwide.

  • Power Rangers Beyond 2024: The Future of The Franchise Teased at SDCC

The Power Rangers , our teenagers with attitude and multicolored superheroes seemed to be in a coma clinching to life support after 30 years. The series as we know it ended in 2023 with Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury following the anniversary special Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always . News on Jonathan Entwistle and Jenny Klein's young adult Power Rangers reboot was alarmingly silent until TV Line revealed that the series will no longer be moving on Netflix with murmurings of Hasbro reworking the series with a new partner. Not to add to the despairing news, an announcement was made that Hasbro would auction every prop and costume from the entire series through Horizon Auctions at SDCC. All that remains are the titles from comic book publisher Boom! Studios in the Darkest Hour run, the Across The Morphin Grid Anthology, and Power Rangers Infinity . Is Power Rangers Dead? No, Power Rangers is not dead, but it is on the verge of a relaunch. There will be new content and merchandise coming in the near future, beginning with Boom! Studios' Power Rangers Prime in November, according to Bleeding Cool. Under the merchandise side, there will be new toys courtesy of Playmates through their licensing deal with Hasbro, launching in late 2025. As mentioned earlier, there will be a new Power Rangers despite the Netflix cancelation. It will simply be another reboot with a different platform. Whether Jonathan Entwistle or Jenny Klein would be involved remains to be soon as there has been no official word regarding their involvement. We may get new information on the reboot closer to the end of the year as Hasbro Entertainment President Olivier Dumont hopes to provide updates on their 35 projects currently in development around that time. Until the next reboot releases fans can enjoy every season from MMPR to Dino Charge on Power Rangers' official YouTube account. Ninja Steel, Dino Fury, Cosmic Fury, and Once & Always are on Netflix, while Beast Morphers is on Netflix only in select regions, and can be purchased on Amazon. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers , the series has a worldwide fan base and legacy. Sources: TV Line , Bleeding Cool

  • Top 7 Wolverine and Deadpool Comic Moments

The worst best friends ever? Wolverine and Deadpool have a number of similarities that draw them together, from their colorful spandex and penchant for murder, to their uncanny healing factor. Although their history has had its rocky moments, the uncanny duo have grown to share a begrudging, but mutual respect for one another. With Deadpool & Wolverine hitting theaters this weekend, let's revisit some of their most memorable comic moments over the years. 7. The Beginning of a Long Friendship When Wolverine and Deadpool first met in Wolverine (1988) #88 , naturally they tried to kill each other. It wasn't until Wolverine (1988) Annual '95 where they first worked together, when Deadpool was kidnapped by Doctor Westergaard and Slayback because of his healing factor. Wolverine initially didn't want to help Deadpool, but he was convinced by his friend, Maverick. It was only through him that Wolverine was forced to acknowledge the shared past the two of them have as lab rats turned weapons. This was the true beginning of a very long friendship. 6. Poolverine In Wolverine (2020) #23 , Wolverine had no choice but to call on Deadpool for help dealing with Danger, the sentient embodiment of the X-Men's Danger Room, after she goes rogue. The two allies infiltrate Xavier's old school (abandoned since the X-Men had moved to Krakoa) to apprehend her. It is there that they fall into one of Danger's traps, a magnetized blender, and are pulverized into oblivion... Except, their twinning healing factors allow them to survive, temporarily binding them together to form a nightmare fueled monstrosity. (Could we see Poolverine make an appearance in Wolverine and Deadpool ? Or is that too much to stomach?) 5. In Mutant Business Deadpool has always wanted to be an X-Man. He's always wanted to be a mutant , period. It's why when the X-Men established their sovereign nation of Krakoa, he takes it upon himself in Deadpool (2019) #6 to invade it in the pursuit of his perceived birthright and the cure for cancer. (The mutants didn't have the cure for cancer.) Regardless, he bumps blades with Wolverine as the mutants try to handle this infestation. 4. Two Sides of the Same F*cked-Up Coin Despite toeing the line of good following his past as a mercenary, it appeared Deadpool returns to his villainous ways when he is hired to kill Wolverine in Wolverine: Origins #25. The Merc with a Mouth establishes a drawn-out scheme, which ends with him about to drown the Canadian mutant. It's a poignant moment in their history, as the two go back and forth, stabbing at one another's egos and revealing Deadpool's insecurity to contrast with Wolverine's marred past. Wolverine is accepted by the X-Men for trying to be better, while Deadpool doesn't care about trying. All of this turns hilarious when it is revealed in the following issue that the entire bounty was set-up by Wolverine himself to draw out his own son, Daken. There was never even a cash reward in the first place for Deadpool to claim. Womp womp. 3. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Deadpool (2013) #15 - #19 sees the Merc with a Mouth kidnapped by the Butler, a former member of the Weapon Plus program. This program was responsible for projects which created the likes of Deadpool, along with Wolverine and even Captain America. Luckily, the two latter heroes help to rescue Deadpool and the other subjects imprisoned in the camp with him. It's heartwarming to see these different figures who had chosen different walks of life, united over a shared history of lost autonomy. 2. I am Fire and Life Incarnate! I am... Deadpool? Once again, Wolverine needs Deadpool's help with a Shi'ar Stalker robot lands on Earth in pursuit of Jean Grey, who at the time, had been long deceased. Deadpool became the prime candidate due to his superb healing factor that could withstand the Stalker's relentless attacks. In order to hold the Stalker's attention, Wolverine dresses Deadpool up in one of Jean's old Phoenix costumes—which works. The two are able to save the day and eviscerate the Stalker. Why does Logan have one of Jean's old costumes? Did he keep it in the same musty closet he kept a lock of Jean's hair? Does she have knowledge of any of this? So many questions, and all of which are better left to the idle imagination. Even a Mercenary Has Morals In Uncanny X-Force (2010) #5 , Deadpool joins Wolverine on a black ops team of mutants, carrying out the jobs that need to be done. Their first mission is to kill Apocalypse —well, a version of him that has been reborn as an innocent child. After Fantomex finally pulls the trigger, it is only Logan who has the guts to defend the choice. I mean, it's Apocalypse we're talking about, right? Deadpool on the other hand vocally disagrees with what went down. The bombshell that follows is that despite being employed, Deadpool had never cashed a single check. Wade Wilson has always been an enigma, but this moment reveals that even this notorious mercenary had lines he wouldn't cross. Maybe that's why Logan keeps the annoying Merc with a Mouth around. For underneath the firearms, the red and black latex, the sardonic attitude, and the carefree spirit —he still has a heart. The uncanny duo reunite in Deadpool & Wolverine , in theaters on July 26th! Also check out issue #3 of DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE: WWIII (2024), in stores now!

  • REVIEW: 'Exploding Kittens' Season 1

Netflix's new board game adaptation, Exploding Kittens , falls short of being a faithful representation of the game. When I first heard about the show, I anticipated a close adaptation, though I had no idea how that would work—and if you've played the game, you'll understand why. Then the trailer came and I thought "the God and the Devil in cat bodies sent to Earth? Hell, yeah! Sign me up!" That excitement lasted until i saw the first episode of the series. The series introduces us to a careless, apathetic god being punished and sent to live with the Higgins family, non-believers who need their problems fixed. The Higgins family is dysfunctional and distant. The mother, Abbie, initially comes across as strict and aloof, but we soon learn she fears losing her family as her children grow up. She is married to Marv, who works at the local bulk-buy store. Their son, Aiden, is obsessed with becoming famous online, while their daughter is an intelligent, science-devoted young woman. The family has very obvous compatibility issues and Godcat tries to bring them together by forcing them to play a deadly board game, which is also nothing like Exploding Kittens , the board game. This event sparks the family's journey towards becoming more involved in each other's lives. As the series progresses, we discover that Abbie was neglected as a child by a mother who didn't care about her interests. Abbie is continuing this cycle, but desires to break free from it. We watch the family make mistakes but also begin to bond more. This family drama is laden with clichés and jokes that will likely become outdated soon. The satirical elements of the series are overly obvious, making it feel like the writers are spoon-feeding the audience rather than being subtle. For instance, naming the "Karen" type neighbor Karen is unnecessary; viewers can make that connection without explicit labeling. The humor often feels forced and lacks the cleverness needed to sustain interest over multiple episodes. What began as a promising premise quickly devolves into an unfunny show with superficial humor. The initial excitement generated by the unique concept—a divine cat sent to fix a dysfunctional family—fades as the series relies heavily on predictable plotlines and uninspired gags. The writers seem to struggle with balancing the absurdity of the premise with engaging story arcs. The potential for a rich, layered narrative exploring family dynamics and celestial politics is squandered in favor of cheap laughs and formulaic scenarios. I had a glimmer of hope with Devilcat's introduction and the exploration of Hell & Heaven politics. The idea of celestial beings navigating earthly challenges and the interplay between their heavenly duties and personal agendas had the potential to add depth to the storyline. However, this aspect of the show fails to deliver. One redeeming aspect of the series is the performances of Tom Ellis as Godcat and Sasheer Zamata as Devilcat. Their banter and dialogue are a delight to hear, and provide the show's few genuinely enjoyable moments. Ellis brings a charming irreverence to his role by capturing the lazy yet well-meaning nature of his character. His comedic timing and delivery often elevate the material, making even the most mundane scenes entertaining. Zamata, on the other hand, infuses Devilcat with a sharp wit and mischievous energy. Their chemistry is palpable, and their interactions are the highlights of an otherwise lackluster series. While Exploding Kittens have an intriguing premise and strong performances from its lead actors, it ultimately falls short of its potential. The over-reliance on clichés, outdated jokes, and superficial humor undermines the show's ability to deliver a compelling narrative. The missed opportunities for deeper exploration of its unique themes and the lack of subtlety in its satire leave much to be desired. Tom Ellis and Sasheer Zamata's superb performances are not enough to redeem the show as a whole. Rating: 2/5 Exploding Kittens is now streaming on Netflix.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Everything You Need To Know About Ryan Murphy's New Horror Series 'Grotesquerie'

Since 2011, Ryan Murphy has been cementing himself as an unstoppable force in horror television. Between fifteen seasons of the American Horror Story franchise, Netflix’s wildly popular Ratched and The Watcher miniseries, and FOX’s cancelled cult comedy Scream Queens , his work has amassed 110 Primetime Emmy® Award nominations in the genre alone. Though shrouded in secrecy, Murphy’s next twisted venture for FX Networks promises another success. In our latest exclusive, Nexus Point News breaks down everything you need to know about Grotesquerie.   On February 23, Ryan Murphy Productions released a cryptic teaser  on Instagram to announce a new horror drama series coming to FX in the fall. Titled Grotesquerie , it was revealed to be starring Niecy Nash-Betts ( Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story , Scream Queens ), Courtney B. Vance ( Lovecraft Country, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) , and Lesley Manville ( The Crown , Back to Black ). Grotesquerie , which is co-created by Jon Robin Baitz ( The West Wing ) and Joe Baken ( Doctor Odyssey ), entered production in Los Angeles, California in late April 2024. Confirmed directors for the series include Ryan Murphy himself, Max Winkler ( FEUD: Capote vs. The Swans ), as well as Elegance Bratton and Alexis Martin Woodall ( American Horror Stories ). Soon after filming commenced, series lead Niecy Nash-Betts took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes photos  and videos  from the set. It was through these that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, the viral sensation currently dating Taylor Swift, was confirmed to be a guest star. On the May 15th episode  of his podcast New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce , the NFLer opened up about his headline fodder casting: “It's been so much fun. Ryan Murphy is an unbelievable writer, director, producer, all of the above, man. He’s just– there’s nothing he can’t do and everybody’s just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable.” Ryan Murphy Productions has kept details regarding Grotesquerie and its exact plot close to the chest. However, an entry in Production Weekly  offered the following description for the series: “Lois, an experienced detective with a seemingly flawless façade, finds herself grappling with inner turmoil while delving into the case of a brutal serial killer. As she digs deeper, she begins to entertain the possibility that the perpetrator may be more than human, perhaps even demonic in nature.” Nexus Point News exclusively reported that Niecy Nash-Betts will be taking on the central role as Detective Lois Tryon in Grotesquerie ,   which has since been confirmed by FX Networks. On the 2024 BET Awards red carpet, Nash-Betts teased her turn as Det. Tryon to Entertainment Tonight : “I’ve never played a role like this. It’s very dark, I’m so excited for people to see it.” She also alluded to her wife, singer Jessica Betts, making a cameo appearance.  In addition to Niecy Nash-Betts and her wife, Nexus Point News also broke the news that Grotesquerie  would feature Tony Award® nominee Micaela Diamond ( Elsbeth , Tick, Tick... Boom! ) as Sister Megan, a nun from a local Catholic newspaper who teams up with Det. Tryon to solve the murders. The gruesome homicides have a mystifying religious bent to them: the killer’s calling card is a series of chilling biblical allusions left behind at each of the crime scenes. Courtney B. Vance plays Det. Tryon’s husband Marshall, who works closely with Travis Kelce’s character.  On August 13, FX Networks released the poster for Grotesquerie and announced its premiere date: the first two episodes will air on the linear channel on Wednesday, September 25 at 10/9c and can be streamed on Hulu the following day. Additionally, they offered the following synopsis for the series: "In Ryan Murphy’s 10-episode drama series Grotesquerie for FX, a series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan, a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian . Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers." FX also revealed that Lesley Manville plays a character named Nurse Redd, Nicholas Alexander Chavez ( Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story , General Hospital ) is slated to take on the role of Father Charlie, and that Raven Goodwin ( Being Mary Jane , Good Luck Charlie ) portrays Lois and Marshall’s daughter, Merritt. We can exclusively confirm that Manville joins Nash-Betts, Vance, Diamond, Chavez, and Goodwin as a series regular.  San Diego Comic-Con 2024 offered our first official look at Grotesquerie last month. FX Networks announced that its annual immersive experiences and photo ops at the Hilton Bayfront Lawn would include, “a glimpse into the world of Grotesquerie , the new Ryan Murphy horror series premiering this fall,” as part of an American Horror Story themed activation, the FX Fearless Hellevator. Attractions Magazine released a full walkthrough of the FX Fearless Hellevator experience on YouTube. D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event also provided American Horror Story fans a sneak peek at Grotesquerie through their AHS Wax House exhibit , which unveiled the series' official logo with a chilling painted glass display. FX has since publicly released an eerie extended teaser for Grotesquerie . Watch below: Grotesquerie premieres Wednesday, September 25 at 10/9c on FX. New episodes will be available to stream the following day on Hulu. This story will be updated as new information becomes available. • EXCLUSIVE: DC’s ‘Paradise Lost’ Circling in on Writers

Paradise Lost   was one of the more interesting projects announced for the DCU by James Gunn during his initial DC Studios’ presentation back in January of 2023. It serves as a prequel to the DCU’s Wonder Woman, which raised many questions like whether Gal Gadot would reprise her role or when we’ll actually see Wonder Woman in the DCU. Since its announcement, there have been no updates on the series. We’ve learned from our source that Kira Snyder and Janet Lin are in talks to join the project. Snyder is best known for being a writer and producer on Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale  and the CW’s The 100 . Lin’s writing credits include Netflix’s Bridgerton  and Cursed  and Fox’s Bones. Much is being kept under wraps regarding the series. During the project’s announcement, Gunn described the project as being similar to Game of Thrones  and compared Themyscira to Westeros. In addition, the series is set to focus on the inhabitants of the island prior to the birth of Wonder Woman.  The title of the series shares similarities to Phil Jimenez and George Perez’s story arc on Wonder Woman, “Paradise Island Lost” which could point to some inspiration for the plot of the series. The story focused on a civil war on Themyscira between the Themysciran Amazons and the Bana-Mighdall Amazons. The setting of the series is similar to Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons, a series that Gunn praised on X in August of 2023. Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons tells the origin of the Amazons and features Wonder Woman’s mother, Hppolyta as a protagonist which could hint at her being a prominent character in Paradise Lost . Paradise Lost  is currently being developed by DC Studios for Max as part of "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" of the DC Universe. This story is developing.
