Production on the X-Files pilot is scheduled to take place from May through June in Vancouver, Nexus Point News has learned. The location carries a strong connection to the franchise’s origins. The first five seasons of The X-Files were famously filmed in Vancouver before production later moved to Los Angeles.
In addition to confirming the filming location, we can reveal that the production is currently seeking five roles for the pilot episode. Several of the characters are written as Indigenous, suggesting that the story may center on a case involving Indigenous communities and institutions. The characters also hint at a storyline that could involve a biker gang, a missing woman, and a young girl tied to the investigation.
The character breakdowns we received for the pilot can be found below.
SALKOW
Salkow is a 10-year-old character, and she is the daughter of a former biker. Having grown up in an unstable environment, she is considered wise beyond her years. The character is also described as athletic. The role must be played by an Indigenous actor.
WILLIE
Willie is a male character in his 30s who is biracial. He is described as powerfully built and physically imposing. After serving time in prison, he is now trying to distance himself from the biker gang that once protected him.
JENN
Jenn is a female character in her 30s who is Indigenous. She works as a Bureau of Indian Affairs police officer and assists with the investigation. The character is also noted to have a sports or athletic background.
JULIE
Julie is a female character in her 60s who is Indigenous. She works as a childcare provider and social worker. During the investigation, she is questioned by authorities and attempts to be helpful, but she becomes increasingly cautious about the direction the case is taking.
