News circulated this past week that Adam Driver was in talks to join Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men movie. We can confirm that Driver is indeed being eyed for the project, though not for any of the previously reported roles. Sources tell Nexus Point News that Driver is being considered to play a villain in X-Men and it is likely the iconic anti-mutant villain William Stryker.

Meanwhile, Tramell Tillman is set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as William Metzger in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as we first reported. Sources tell us Tillman will reprise the role in the upcoming X-Men film, aligning with our earlier report that the actor signed a multi-project deal with Marvel Studios. The crossover is fitting, as Metzger is another character known for his hatred of mutants. Nexus Point News has reached out to Marvel Studios for comment.

William Stryker was created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Brent Anderson, first appearing in X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills (1982). A former Army sergeant, and devout Christian, Stryker’s deep-seated hatred of mutants leads him to become involved with the Weapon X program.

In live-action adaptations, Stryker has been portrayed by Brian Cox in X2 (2003), Danny Huston in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), and Josh Helman in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) and X-Men: Apocalypse (2016).

William Metzger was created by Joe Casey and Steve Rude, debuting in X-Men: Children of the Atom #1 (1999). In the miniseries, Metzger led the Anti-Mutant Militia before ultimately being killed by Magneto.

Adam Driver is best known for portraying Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. His film credits also include Marriage Story, BlacKkKlansman, House of Gucci, and Megalopolis. He will next be seen in Paper Tiger, alongside Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller, as well as Peter Craig’s upcoming television series Rabbit, Rabbit. Driver is represented by William Morris Endeavor (WME), Bailey Brand Management, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Tramell Tillman is best known for playing Seth Milchick in Apple TV’s hit series Severance. His other credits include Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Hunters, Sweethearts, and Godfather of Harlem. His upcoming projects include Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, Good Sex, and Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. Tillman is represented by United Talent Agency (UTA) and Principal Entertainment LA.

Marvel Studios’ X-Men is directed by Jake Schreier from a screenplay by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. Plot details and a release date remain under wraps.
