Geoff Keighley arrives with the second biggest gaming event of the year, Gamescom, which will be delivering its Opening Night Live showcase hosted by Keighley himself, where we’ll be getting some brand new updates on already announced video games and exciting new world premiere announcements.
The main show will begin shortly at 7pm BST (8pm CEST / 2pm EDT / 11am PDT), with a pre-show starting 30 minutes earlier where there will also be some announcements showcased. The main show will be 2 hours long as announced by Geoff Keighley and will likely end around 9pm BST (10pm CEST / 4pm EDT / 1pm PDT).
We’ll be getting news on The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Gears of War: E-Day, Ananta, Tides of Annihilation, Metro 2039, Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, and Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, which Keighley revealed on his X / Twitter page. There’s plenty more where that came from, and we’ll be updating this article live with all the major announcements from tonight’s Opening Night Live showcase.
Worms Galactic Tactics
A brand new game in the Worms franchise has been announced, titled Worms Galactic Tactics, that will be a strategy game in the same vein as the XCOM and Mario/Rabbids video games. Alongside the announcement of a new game also came a second announcement for a brand new instalment titled simply Worms. Worms Galactic Tactics and Worms are both being developed by Absolute Games and published by Team 17. Worms Galactic Tactics will be coming in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Train Sim World 7
With another year comes another annual release for Train Sim World with Train Sim World 7. Train Sim World 7 is being developed and published by Dovetail Games, with it releasing on September 7, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
Rollercoaster Tycoon Wonderworks
Gamescom is filled with some huge returns as Rollercoaster Tycoon arrives with an entirely new game titled Rollercoaster Tycoon Wonderworks. With the developers behind Let’s Build a Zoo, you can see some of the humour from that game being brought into the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise. Rollercoaster Tycoon Wonderworks is being developed by Springloaded and will be coming soon to Early Access on PC via Steam.
Aniimo
From what looks like a mix of Pokémon, Palworld, and Wuthering Waves comes Aniimo, which looks like a cosy game where you befriend these fluffy and distinctively unique-looking creatures, where they can battle and traverse the world. Aniimo is being developed by Pawprint Studio and will be releasing September 16 on PS5, Xbox, Windows, Steam, and Epic Games. It’ll then release on September 23 on the App Store and Google Play Store.
Genigods: Nezha
Genigods: Nezha was revealed, which showcased everything from a phoenix to giant titans. The game will be following a story that’s based off of Chinese mythology and looks similar to a less futuristic version of Stellar Blade. Genigods: Nezha will be releasing soon on PS5, Steam, Xbox, and GOG. The game is available to wishlist now.
Perceptum
It wouldn’t be a video game showcase without a horror game. With bloodstains, writing on the walls, and loud banging noises, Perceptum is exactly what you’d expect from your average horror game. Perceptum will be releasing Spring 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the EGS.
Acornia Mirror Worlds
In Acornia Mirror Worlds, you play as a squirrel who ventures between two worlds: one where you’ll adventure, face off against enemies and gather ingredients, and the other where you’ll be running a cake shop. From the trailer that was released, it looks cute with its 2D cartoonish look, reminiscing of an animated show. Acornia Mirror Worlds will be released in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Valor Mortis
Valor Mortis will be taking place in a Medevil world where you’ll be slicing and dicing your enemies with both weapons and magic. It’ll also feature Vincent Cassell as Napoleon and comes from the creators of Ghostrunner, One More Level. Valor Mortis will be releasing October 13 on PS5, Xbox, and PC via Steam.
Tankrat
The trailer doesn’t offer much, but Tankrat seemingly appears to be a tank warfare game that takes place within a futuristic setting. Tankrat is being published by Kepler Interactive and will be releasing January 15, 2027, on PS5 and PC via Steam and EGS.
Murals
From the developers of Disney’s Illusion Island and Battletoads comes Murals, a new 3D puzzle platformer. Murals will be releasing in 2027 on Steam and is available to wishlist now.
Humankind II
Humankind II has been announced with a trailer that delivered a live-action performance going through the different ages in time before showcasing new gameplay. Humankind II will be releasing in 2027 on Steam and is available to wishlist now.
Elta Defy All Gods
This action-packed reveal trailer for Elta Defy All Gods showcased a muscular man wearing a mask with red eyes and horns fighting his way through an icy cave before coming across a small dragon and befriending it. The gameplay highlights you defeating your enemies with violent punches, some parkour, and the little dragon aiding you in battle. Elta Defy All Gods will be releasing Early 2027 and will be dropping on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Age Twisters
The next 2-player co-op game has arrived with Age Twisters, where two players will work together and play as characters who can switch their ages from young to old with a device they receive in the mail. Age Twisters is available to wishlist now on Steam and will also be releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and the Epic Games Store.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
A new Onimusha: Way of the Sword was revealed with the announcement of an expanded demo which will allow you to explore a new location and take on a new boss in a deadly duel head-on. Onimusha Way of the Sword will be releasing September 4 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Mariachi Legend
Mariachi Legends delivers a 2D action game from creative director Miguel Hasson that takes inspiration from older Metroidvania games. Mariachi Legends will be releasing April 7, 2027, on PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Nodus Fall
With the pre-show over, we get the first announcement of the main show with HoYoverse’s new game, Nodus Fall. HoYoverse delivered a cinematic trailer and a first glance at the game, which is vastly different from any other game they’ve developed before. You’ll play as characters called Weavers who’ll be facing these gigantic creatures in co-op action.
Rainbow Six Tactics
Ubisoft has announced the latest instalment in the Rainbow Six franchise with Rainbow Six Tactics, a turn-based tactical single-player game set in the Rainbow Six universe where you’ll lead a squad of familiar operatives in high-stakes missions around the world. There will be 15 unique operators that you can choose from to assist you in your missions. Rainbow Six Tactics will release in 2027 and is available to wishlist.
Gears of War: E-Day
The Coalition has arrived to reveal the campaign trailer for Gears of War: E-Day, which is exclusively releasing as an Xbox console exclusive. In this trailer, we get the first look at the leader of the Locust horde. This game will see Locusts coming from the ground and causing havoc while the story focuses on the Gears soldiers that were on the frontline during Emergence Day. Gears of War: E-Day will be out on October 6 on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Ananta
What has been described as anime meets Grand Theft Auto has finally received a release date. The trailer for Ananta highlighted a story where our main character will be living the city life while taking on various enemies, protecting the city in the process. It’s everything you could expect from a free-to-play anime game. Ananta will be releasing January 15, 2027, on PS5, PC, and mobile.
Silent Hill Townfall
We get a new look at the Silent Hill first-person spin-off, Silent Hill: Townfall, which showcased more of the friendly and fearful faces that you’ll be encountering in the game. Silent Hill: Townfall will be releasing on September 24 on PS5 and PC.
