Disney is continuing with the process of turning their beloved animated movies into live-action adaptations, with Tangled being the next one in the works after the upcoming Moana.
We’ve got our latest cast announcement with Kathryn Hahn officially attached to the role of Mother Gothel, Rapunzel’s captor and the villain of Tangled. Hahn subtly announced the news through her Instagram by changing her bio to “mother knows best 🪞”.
In January, it was officially revealed that both Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim would be playing Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, respectively.
Kathryn Hahn is best known for her roles in The Studio, Agatha All Along, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In 2025, Kathryn Hahn received her fourth Emmy nomination for her role as Maya Mason in The Studio episode, “Casting”. Hahn is repped by Gersh Agency, Lighthouse Management & Media, and Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham.
Michael Gracey is attached to direct the live-action Tangled adaptation and is widely known for his work on musical films such as The Greatest Showman and Better Man, which were both critically acclaimed. Tangled is currently eying a summer production start.
