Gambino, starring Nicolas Cage, will film in Atlanta in April 2026, Nexus Point News has learned.

At the end of last year, Deadline reported that John Woo and Nicolas Cage will reunite for the first time in nearly three decades for the upcoming film Gambino, following their collaboration on Face/Off (1997).

Gambino is a crime biopic telling the story of the son of Sicilian immigrants who rises to become New York’s notorious mob boss, Carlo Gambino (Nicolas Cage). The film will explore the calculated rise of the quiet but intimidating leader of the New York crime scene. Through Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist Jimmy Breslin, the story will aim to uncover the man behind the kingpin title, drawing on the voices of those around him and examining how Gambino became an infamous figure who redefined power in American organised crime.

Carlo Gambino was the leader and namesake of the Gambino crime family. Gambino played a powerful role in organised crime up until his death in 1976.

The screenplay will be written by Nick Vallelonga, the co-writer of Green Book, alongside George Gallo (Bad Boys). John Woo will direct the film. The Hong Kong filmmaker is best known for his influence in the action film genre with films such as The Killer (1992) and Mission: Impossible 2 (2000).

Icarus Entertainment Fund will partner with NextG to finance the project.

Nicolas Cage will next be seen in Spider-Man Noir, Amazon Prime’s live-action series set to premiere on May 27, 2026.
