X-Men ’97 swept people off their feet when it first released on Disney+ back in 2024. It was met with critical acclaim, which led to a second season renewal, and now, alongside some other Marvel Television shows like Daredevil: Born Again and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, X-Men ’97 will be aiming to release a season per year, with the third season renewed and in production at this current time.

X-Men ’97 was the revival of the 1992 X-Men: The Animated Series and continues the storyline after the loss of their leader, Professor X (Ross Marquand). Cyclops (Ray Chase) now leads the team, and together, the X-Men must face the threats of both Mister Sinister (Christopher Britton) and Bastion (Theo James).

The finale of X-Men ’97 saw the X-Men being scattered across time after the destruction of Asteroid M and revealed the presence of the first mutant, Apocalypse (Ross Marquand). Rogue (Lenore Zann), Nightcrawler (Adrian Hough), Magneto (Matthew Waterson), Beast (George Buza), and Xavier are trapped in Ancient Egypt, 3000 B.C., where they encounter En Sabah Nur (Adetokumboh M’Cormack), a young Apocalypse, while Cyclops and Jean Grey (Jennifer Hale) are trapped in the future, 3960 A.D., where they come across Mother Askani (Gates McFadden) and a young Nathan Summers.

X-Men ’97 Season 2 will see our titular team deal with the impending doom that is Apocalypse while trying to find their way back to the 90s.

Matthew Chauncey serves as the head writer for Season 2, with Jake Castorena as supervising director and Charley Feldman as supervising producer. Chase Conley and Emi-Emmett Yonemura will be returning as directors from the first season for the second season. X-Men: The Animated Series producer and director Larry Houston and showrunners Eric and Julia Lewald, who were consulting on the revival, have now been made executive producers going forward.

The first look at X-Men ’97 was revealed earlier today through an officially-licensed promotional poster being sold on Amazon by Grupo Erik. The 4×4 poster revealed the central characters that we would be following throughout the season, and this is every character that can be spotted: Morph (J. P. Karliak), Polaris, Storm (Alison Sealy-Smith), Cyclops, Jean Grey, Cable (Chris Potter), Sunspot (Gui Agustini), Rogue, Forge (Gil Birmingham), Bishop (Isaac Robinson-Smith), Beast, Jubilee (Holly Chou), Magneto, Nightcrawler, Wolverine (Cal Dodd), and Professor X.

Amongst these characters, Polaris is one of the handful of new additions we’ll be seeing in X-Men ’97 Season 2 alongside Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, Havok, Mariko, and Danger.

The X-Men ’97 Season 2 Pop Funkos also became available for pre-purchase on Amazon, giving a better look at some characters while providing more details. Cyclops and Jean Grey can be seen sporting a wasteland outfit, with Storm, Morph, and Wolverine also sporting a wasteland outfit, according to the Funko Pops revealing that they will also be making an appearance in the future alongside Cyclops and Jean Grey.

Rogue, Nightcrawler, Xavier, Magneto, and Beast can be seen wearing attire that belongs to Ancient Egypt, while Jubilee and Sunspot reveal completely new looks, and Forge, Bishop, Cable and Polaris seem to be wearing their usual attires.

The Funko Pops also highlighted both En Sabah Nur and a present-day Apocalypse, but the biggest reveal so far seems to be an X-Corp version of Professor X, which will likely introduce the corporation created by Xavier into the animated series.

A t-shirt which has also been spotted on Amazon highlighted a new look at the Wasteland X-Men crew, which consists of Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, and Morph.

With merchandise beginning to pop up across Amazon and other various sites, signs only point to X-Men ’97 Season 2 kicking off their marketing campaign rather soon. A premiere date for X-Men ’97 Season 2 has not been announced as of yet.
