The third season of XO, Kitty, premiering April 2 on Netflix, follows Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) as she returns to the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS) for her senior year with a clear plan: strengthen her friendships, reconnect with her family in Korea, and finally define her relationship with Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee). But things quickly take a different turn.

A series of misunderstandings and unexpected revelations throws Kitty’s plans — and her relationships. At the same time, tensions within her friend group begin to surface, forcing everyone to confront unresolved feelings and difficult choices. As the season unfolds, Kitty is pushed to accept that not everything can be controlled — and that growing up often means embracing the unexpected.

Here is how XO, Kitty Season 3 ends — and what it means moving forward.

The misunderstanding that separates Kitty and Min Ho

Kitty and Min Ho begin dating over the course of the season, and everything seems perfect at first. However, their relationship falls apart because of a misunderstanding — mixed with insecurity — that quickly escalates beyond what it should have been.

Kitty starts to suspect that Min Ho is lying to her and hiding things. During Chuseok at Dae’s father’s restaurant in Episode 5, Yuri tells Kitty that she overheard a strange conversation between Min Ho and Eunice, and they find a positive pregnancy test in the restaurant bathroom, just minutes after Eunice leaves. Based on that, Kitty and Yuri assume that Min Ho got Eunice pregnant.

Kitty confronts Min Ho, saying she trusted and believed in him, but he doesn’t get a chance to explain because she walks away, deeply hurt. Still at the restaurant, Kitty tells Dae that Min Ho and Eunice must have hooked up during the break in Paris. But Dae immediately makes it clear that this is impossible. He reveals that he was in Paris with Eunice during her tour, and that the two of them actually slept together.

That’s when Kitty realizes she got everything wrong. The truth is that Eunice thought she might be pregnant with Dae’s child — then she discovers that she is not — and confided in Min Ho because she was scared and didn’t know what to do. Yuri had only overheard part of that conversation. Kitty goes after Min Ho to apologize, but the damage is already done. The moment she doubted him — even briefly — confirmed his deepest fear: that no one truly believes in him. Instead of talking things through, Min Ho completely shuts down.

The distance and what changes for Min Ho

After the breakup, Min Ho isolates himself in the studio, focusing entirely on music. At the same time, he faces another major setback: he gets fired by his own father, which only reinforces his insecurities. This moment becomes crucial for his character development. Without his father, without Kitty, and without a clear direction, Min Ho starts questioning what he actually wants for himself — not what others expect from him.

The turning point comes when he agrees to produce the music for Yuri’s runway show for the Seoul Fashion Week emerging designer competition. Despite his doubts, he delivers a track that is well received by the audience, proving he has talent on his own. Later, he’s also offered the opportunity to manage the girl group SOS911, which represents a career path independent from his father’s influence.

Yuri’s runway show and the group’s reconstruction

At the same time as the romantic drama unfolds, the episodes show Kitty trying to fix her group of friends, which has completely fallen apart. Q and Jin are in conflict because of unresolved feelings involving Marius. Madison and Mihee are also fighting. Even so, Kitty manages to bring everyone together to help Yuri finish her collection in just 48 hours for the Seoul Fashion Week emerging designer competition.

The runway show becomes a symbolic moment. After her family’s company goes bankrupt and she loses her wealth, Yuri transforms her downfall into her concept, titled “Riches to Rags.” Her friends walk the runway as models, representing who she is now. In the end, Yuri wins the emerging designer competition.

Kitty’s friends

The love triangle between Q, Marius, and Jin is resolved directly backstage during the show. After Jin finds out that Q sent a photo to Marius during Q’s trip to Los Angeles, he breaks up with him. Q admits he made a mistake and explains that after the breakup, he went to Marius because he wanted to understand feelings from the past — but quickly realized that wasn’t what he truly wanted. He acknowledges that he hurt both of them.

Marius, in turn, accepts the situation. He realizes he was trying to compete with Jin and decides to stop insisting. This makes it clear that Q’s relationship with Jin is what truly matters to him. In the final episode, Q proves this through his actions. He tries to rebuild Jin’s trust slowly, without pressure. Jin is still hurt, but admits that he also loves Q and is willing to try again.

Additionally, Praveena breaks up with Juliana after realizing that she still has feelings for her ex, Yuri. Juliana is honest in admitting that Yuri was her first love and that she will always care about her. The two ultimately decide to remain friends. Meanwhile, Dae and Eunice are clearly dating.

Do Kitty and Min Ho end up together?

On Kitty’s 18th birthday, Min Ho shows that he still cares by organizing meaningful details for her party, including camellias — her mother’s favorite flowers. Even so, he hesitates to confess his feelings, believing he might interfere with her future in New York after she is accepted into NYU.

That changes after a conversation with Dae later. Min Ho realizes he has spent too much time living according to other people’s expectations and decides to go after what he truly wants: Kitty. When he finds out that Kitty has already left for the airport to visit her family in Portland, he rushes to the subway station to catch her before she leaves. On the way, he sends her a song he wrote for her, titled “By My Side,” as a birthday gift.

Even after nearly missing each other, they finally reunite. That’s when Min Ho makes his feelings clear. “Covey, I don’t want to stand in the way of your future. And I don’t know what my future holds, but I want it to be with you. And I couldn’t let you go without telling you that. Or without saying I love you,” he tells her, before they kiss.

The meaning of the ending

The season doesn’t end with definitive answers about the couple’s future, but Min Ho decides to go with Kitty to Portland. “I can’t wait to see the city that made Kitty Song Covey,” he says as they sit together on the plane.

They don’t have a plan — and that’s exactly the point. Kitty’s final narration in XO, Kitty makes it clear that, after everything she’s been through, she understands that not everything needs to be perfect or carefully planned. Some stories are simply meant to be lived.
